In Loving Memory of Shasheba's Black "Bandit"
Black/white male with blue eyes.
Date of birth:  January 13th
Favorite food:  Ice cream!  He knew that the kids would always be willing to share.  He was funny because he didn't like hard biscuits.  He would spit them out, give you a disguisted look and walk away.
Favorite toy:  his cat, Jordan.  He often brought home baby animals like they were puppies.  Raccoons, possums, kittens, muskrats, snakes, and his favorite, skunks.  He loved skunks!  I think he brought home Jordan because she looked like a skunk.  She slept with him and ate from his food bowl.  The kids named her Michael after Michael Jordan but when she presented us with two kittens the next spring, we had to change her name to Jordan.  He also raised those two kittens in his dog house.  None of the other dogs ever bothered them.
Favorite game:  fetch, tag, hide-n-seek.  Tag was by far his favorite.  There is nothing like having three kids and a huge dog chasing each other through the house.
The funniest moment was the first time Bandit saw himself in the mirror.  He barked and ran.  Then he kept looking around the corner to see if that other dog was still there.
Bandit was a frequent visitor to school when the kids were younger for show and tell.  He would be laying on the floor with as many kids as he could convince to rub his belly.  Even kids that had never seen a dog that big were soon convinced that he wouldn't hurt them.
Bandit was our puppy babysitter.  When the puppies were big enough to be outside, they would follow him like a mother duck and ducklings. Quite a sight considering how big he was but the puppies never went anywhere they weren't allowed.
Bandit was trained to stay in the back of a pickup until the tailgate was opened.  One day pulling into the feed mill we were greeted by a parade lining up which included horses.  We were a bit worried to say the least.  Bandit held his training and rode home in the front seat.
Bandit was horribly afraid of thunder.  He would be at the door to come inside and hide.  If we weren't fast enough, he would push open the door and come inside on his own.
Bandit was a powerful dog in harness.  He could pull all three of the kids when they were younger by himself.  I am guessing that was around 150 pounds.  As he got older, he would let you know when he was done working.  He would sit down and wait to be removed from the team.  He just didn't have the speed to keep up anymore.
Bandit had a wonderful personality.  He never had a cross moment in his life.  He will be sorely missed.  I take comfort that he is together again with his beloved Starfire.  Humans and huskies alike mourn his passing.
